Birmingham – United Kingdom

Introduction
In Birmingham, activities concentrated on future risks such as how climate change may impact on flooding but also the implications of rising groundwater levels as industrial consumption falls. Some of partners in the learning alliance included the city council, the water company, the Environment Agency, the regulatory authority, consumer bodies and a professional association. One specific outcome of engagement with development agencies was influencing the plans for redevelopment of a major site within the city, reducing costs and introducing more sustainable alternatives.
